Is it automatic?
No, it opens and closes by hand. Extend the handle first, then push the canopy open.
Does it really block the sun?
The canopy has a black UV coating on the inside face, which is what does the sun blocking. It is designed to be used as a parasol as well as an umbrella.
Is the carry sleeve waterproof?
No, the sleeve is a fabric cover for storage rather than a waterproof case. Let the umbrella dry before putting it away.
